What to expect
At-home pet euthanasia, step by step
Not knowing what happens can be as hard as the day itself. Here is what a visit with me looks like, honestly and plainly.
Call or text me
You're welcome to get in touch even if you're not sure whether it's time. I'm happy to answer your questions and talk through your pet's situation. If I can't answer straight away, I'll return your call as soon as I can.
We discuss your pet
We'll talk about how your pet is doing, any concerns you have, and what to expect from an at home euthanasia. If you decide to proceed, we'll arrange a suitable time and discuss any aftercare you would like me to organise. After-hours and weekend appointments are also available where possible.
We arrange a time and date that suits you best
I will talk with you personally about your pet, what to expect, and a time that suits you and your family.
Helping your pet relax
I'll first give your pet a sedative to help them become deeply relaxed and comfortable. This also provides analgesia (pain relief). They'll gradually drift into a peaceful sleep, with you beside them if you wish. There is no rush, we'll give them the time they need before taking the next step.
A peaceful goodbye
Once your pet is completely asleep and unaware, I'll place an intravenous catheter, they should be deeply asleep and not feel any pain. I will then get consent from you and those present, before I administer the final euthanasia solution. This is quick and painless, allowing them to pass peacefully while they remain deeply asleep. I'll gently guide you through what is happening and let you know when they have passed.
Afterwards
There is no need to say goodbye immediately. You're welcome to spend some quiet time with your pet afterwards. When you're ready, I can take care of your pet and arrange the aftercare we discussed, or leave them in your care if you have chosen home burial.

Cost
My fees depend on your pet's size, the day and travel distance. You can see them in the pricing guide.
Having family and other pets there
You're welcome to have family members, children and other pets present if that feels right for you. You can stay with your pet throughout the entire appointment, or step away at any point if you prefer. There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye, I'll make sure your pet remains comfortable and cared for throughout.
What to have ready
- Your pet's favourite bed, blanket or spot.
- A few treats if they enjoy them, and nothing more elaborate than that.
Beyond that, you do not need to prepare anything. I bring everything else.
Whenever you are ready, I am here.
Call or text me on 0459 203 883. I will get back to you personally.
